TurnUp is the largest youth-led voter registration and turnout initiative and advocate for change. It provides a platform for users to stay informed, connect with others who share similar values, and take action to make a difference. In this case study, we will walk through the design process of TurnUp to understand how we created a user-friendly and engaging experience.
Before we started designing the app, we conducted extensive research to understand the pain points that users face when it comes to social justice. We surveyed potential users and conducted interviews to gather insights on their experiences. We found that many people feel overwhelmed and unsure about how to take action. We also discovered that users want to connect with others who share similar values and be part of a community that advocates for change.
Based on our research insights, we began designing the app. After creating wireframes to explore different layouts and user flows, we then created high-fidelity mockups to visualize the main components of the app Navigation, News, Events, and Community.
Visual Design
We wanted the app to have a modern and engaging design, so we created a color palette that reflects the values of the app. We used shades of blue and green to represent hope and progress. We also used bold typography and icons to make the app visually appealing and easy to use.
User Experience & User Interface design of TurnUp Mobile App
Based on our research insights, we began designing the app. After creating wireframes to explore different layouts and user flows, we then created high-fidelity mockups to visualize the main components of the app Navigation, News, Events, Connections, and Resources.
We created a scrolling news feed that aggregates news articles related to voting and social justice. Users can browse through the latest news articles and RSVP to events that matter to them.
We designed an events section that showcases upcoming events. Users can view details about each event and RSVP if they are interested in attending.ending.
We designed a community section that allows users to connect with others who share similar values. Users can join different groups and start discussions on various topics.
